While the women will be shaking their bikes on the cobblestones of northern France tomorrow, it's the men's turn on Sunday April 13: it's already time for Paris-Roubaix 2025!
With a slightly modified route, notably on the first cobblestone sectors, and with the introduction of a different approach before entering the Trouée d'Arenberg, this 122nd edition of the queen of classics promises yet more spectacle. With a little rain on Saturday night or Sunday morning, the cobbles could be a little muddier than in previous years!

Course changes compared to last year
Here are the main course changes for Paris-Roubaix 2025, compared with Paris-Roubaix 2024:- in Bertry, the riders will pass through the village instead of around it
- from Quiévy to Solesmes, this Sunday they will pass through the Saint-Python sector (27) instead of going to Viesly and taking the cobbled sector from Viesly to Briastre
- after the cobbled sector (26) from Vertain to Saint-Martin-sur-Ecaillon, riders will turn left instead of right; this means they miss the cobbled sector from Capelle to Ruesnes, heading towards Sommaing and Verchain-Maugré, then take sector (25) from Verchain-Maugré to Quérénaing, then the paved sector (24) from Artres to Quérénaing in the opposite direction (from Quérénaing to Artres), then sector (23) from Artres to Famars, then back down to Quérénaing and back on the same course as last year
- in the approach to the Trouée d'Arenberg, this time as they leave Wallers, they turn right towards Bellaing and then up towards the road leading to the Trouée d'Arenberg. However, that's not all: instead of heading straight for the Trouée d'Arenberg and arriving in the forest at full speed, slowed down last year by a chicane which could have been dangerous if a larger group had arrived on it... This time, runners turn left onto Avenue d'Arenberg, then right onto Rue de Croy - a mining road which until recently was closed to all traffic (with a gate and 4 large boulders at the end) - then right onto Rue Desandrouins before turning left, crossing the level crossing and then finally reaching the famous Trouée d'Arenberg straight ahead!
The 30 cobbled sectors of Paris-Roubaix 2025
With these changes, the cobbled sections will be reduced from 55.7 km in 2024 to 55.3 km this year (-0.4 km), compared with them going up from 54.5 to 55.7 km last year. However, the difficulty ratings assigned to the various cobbled sectors after reconnaissance by race director Thierry Gouvenou on Tuesday are strictly identical to those of last year (and of previous years). It's hardly surprising that the scores are identical, given that the criteria taken into account in awarding the scores are length (which doesn't move), irregularity of the cobbles (which doesn't move or at least doesn't move much, with the exception of major repairs or deterioration), general condition of the section (which doesn't move much, especially when the weather is similar) and its location (which hardly moves at all).As before, therefore, 3 sectors are rated 5 stars (the most difficult): Trouée d'Arenberg (#19), Mons-en-Pévèle (#11) and Carrefour de l'Arbre (#4). For the first of these, the Trouée d'Arenberg, the approach will be a little different, introducing 4 bends to slow the pace and reduce the risk of crashes at the entrance to the sector.

The Paris-Roubaix 2025 route on an OpenStreetMap map
The start from Compiègne on the Place du Général de Gaulle will be given according to the hourly itinerary at 11:10 am.After the start, runners will take Rue du Dahomey, Place Saint-Jacques, Rue Magenta, Rue Jean Legendre, Place de l'Hôtel de Ville, Rue Solférino, Cours Guynemer, Rue de Soissons, then Rue du Bataillon de France, Route de Choisy, Rue du Président Roosevelt, D66 and Rue Raymond Poincaré, before rejoining the D130 as usual, where the actual start will be given. The riders will then follow the D130 before heading towards Saint-Léger-aux-Bois and Pont-l'Evêque towards Noyon, then via Ham and Saint-Quentin to the first cobbled sector, the usual Troisvilles à Inchy. This is followed by 2 more cobbled sectors, before moving on to the Saint Python sector (and not the Viesly à Briastre sector, even though it made its comeback last year), and the first feed zone, which is in the same place as usual, again in Solesmes.
After the usual cobbled section from Vertain to Saint-Martin-sur-Écaillon, there is the second change to the route, with the cobbled sections from Verchain-Maugré to Quérénaing (25) and from Quérénaing to Artres (24) instead of the other way round, then from Artres to Famars (23), before returning to the usual route. In all, the riders will pass over 55.3 kilometers of cobbles, and will be able to refuel a second time in Beuvry-la-Forêt. The finish is, as usual, at the Vélodrome André Pétrieux in Roubaix, after a complete lap of the track (300 meters from the track entrance + 500 meters of a complete lap = 800 meters in total).
