About an hour ago, the second stage of the Critérium International 2010 started just above the harbour of Porto-Vecchio.

We assisted to the start under a slightly cloudy sky, but there was a perfect atmosphere. Both alongside the road and ... on the road, because when a young cyclist of the Sprint Racing Club Bastiais ended up in the middle of the peloton just before the start, Lance Armstrong decided to help him progress a little bit ...

Indeed, the young boy probably dreamed of being in the middle of the peloton and ... he made his dream come true!

There's no better way to show you this unique moment than by showing you the two photos below ...

How did this boy end up there?

update 1 April 2010

After having published this article, the boy's mother contacted me and that's why I now know how he ended up in the middle of the professional peloton!

She told me that the children should have started before the pro's, but that her boy, Lisandru Salaris, and his friend Ange-Marie Damerval (of whom I also have a picture) of the Sprint Racing Club Bastiais, without knowing what was happening, ended up in the middle of the peloton.
Since Lisandru had some difficulty in getting his shoe clipsed into his pedal and since the start was uphill, he had a hard time getting away and the American rider, seven times winner of the Tour de France, thus decided to push him!
