Tonight the Vuelta a España 2013 started and you have already been able to find its race route on Google Maps/Google Earth, but in France, the 12the race (out of 16) of the Coupe de France PMU will take place tomorrow as well. This is of course the Classic de l'Indre 2013, 10th edition of the race around Châteauroux, south of Châteauroux to be more precise this year.

For the second time in row, the organisor of this race asked velowire.com to develop the map with the race's route on Google Maps and this map presents not only the race route but also the different icons of the sponsors which correspond to the different sprints and when you click on these icons they reveal a photo of that point. Since the official presentation of the race this map is thus online on the official website of the Classic de l'Indre.

The race route of the Classic de l'Indre 2013 on Google Maps

I already said this last year but I prefer repeating it again this year: for those who think the race route of the Classic de l'Indre is the same every year, waky up .. it's not true! Indeed, when you compare the race route of the 2011 or the 2012 edition with the one presented below you immediately realise they are different. In 2011 the race took place on the north-east of the city Châteauroux while in 2012 the riders discovered the region south-east of the city. This year the race will really take place south of the city.
Despite the changing race route, the final circuit is the same every year ... maybe that's the secret of Anthony Ravard, triple winner of the race (including two years in row). Even though last year Rafael Andriato (Farnese Vini-Selle Italia) was the one to beat Yauheni Hutarovich (alors FDJ-BigMat) in the sprint, Ravard will most probably want to win it again and add a fourth victory in this race to his victory list.

In the 200.4 kilometers on the programme tomorrow, we'll most probably see a breakaway try to go on till the finish but the victory will most probably be decided in a sprint again.

After the start from Châteauroux, the kilometer 0 will be in Le Poinçonnet. The riders will go off via Arthon to Maillet where they'll battle at kilometer 31 for the Prime du Conseil Général de l'Indre before they continue towards the 1st sprint Challenge Citroën on the Col du Pilori.
They'll continue southwards to dispute the second sprint of this challenge in La Jarrige and the race will then continue east to Aigurande.
From Aigurande they'll go up north again to find successively the third sprint of the Challenge Citroën in Montmarçon, the sprint for the Prime de Laleuf in Laleuf and the feeding zone in Saint-Denis-de-Jouhet.
A small detour via Cluis will get them to the 1st sprint Opticiens Mutualistes while up north they'll find the 2nd sprint of this sponsor, in Lys-Saint-Georges.

We'll continue going up north via Ardentes where the peloton will go north-west to get back to Châteauroux.

The riders will still have to cross the finish line 6 times at that time because the 7.4 kilometer circuit will be done 5 times after the first crossing of the finish line. At the second crossing of the finish line the city of Châteauroux will attribute a prize to the rider who crosses the finish line first while at the 4th crossing it'll be the 3rd and last sprint Opticiens Mutualistes.

  1. Bonjour,

  3. The link for the Google Earth file is broken, it shows a blank page. Can you fix it, please, if you still have the file? Thanks for the good work.
