While the Tour de France 2015 is only about to start in 170 days and the official presentation of the Tour de France 2016 race route is only planned for 20 October 2015, Amaury Sport Organisation (A.S.O.) already announced that the 103rd edition of the Tour de France will visit Andorra!

The Tour de France in Andorra during 3 days!
The last time the Tour de France visited Andorra was on Friday 10 July 2009 when a stage which started in Barcelona had its finish at Andorra Arcalis, and that stage was won with a solo win by Brice Feillu, at that time riding for the Agritubel team (detail photo of Brice Feillu's finish, another photo of Brice Feillu's finish).7 years later, in 2016, the Tour de France will spend no less than 3 days in the Principality of Andorra, with a stage finish, a rest day and a stage start. Most probably the Tour de France 2016 will go east from the Manche department and its Grand Départ, followed by a visit of the Alps, with the first rest day, before the peloton heads to the Pyrenees and thus towards Andorra with the second rest day.
While the Tour of Spain 2015 will have a stage on Wednesday 2 September in Andorra (starting in Andorra la Vella and finishing at Cortals d'Encamp), we can thus think that the visit of Andorre for the Tour de France 2016 will follow the planning below:
- Sunday 17 or Monday 18 July 2016: stage finish in Andorra
- Monday 18 or Tuesday 19 July 2016: rest day in Andorra
- Tuesday 19 or Wednesday 20 July 2015: stage start from Andorra
This will be the fifth visit of the Tour de France to Andorra, after 1964 (finish of the 13th stage coming from Perpignan, won by J. Jimenez, rest day and start of the 14th stage towards Toulouse), 1993 (finish of the 15th stage coming from Perpignan, won by O. Rincon, and start of the 16th stage towards Saint-Lary-Soulan), 1997 (finish of the 10th stage at Andorra Arcalis coming from Luchon, stage won by Jan Ullrich, and start of the 11th stage towards Perpignan) and 2009 (finish of the 7th stage at Andorra Arcalis coming from Barcelona, stage won by Brice Feillu, and start of the 8th stage the next day towards Saint Girons).
