It's already early February, the cycling season is well underway, including in Europe with the various Trofeos of the Challenge Mallorca (which, since 2015 open the cycling season in Europe), but in France that means the first race is on the program tomorrow, Sunday February 2, 2025. It is, of course, the Grand Prix Cycliste de Marseille La Marseillaise, which will also be the first round of the Coupe de France FDJ out of 18 in total. Because of the Marseille-Lyon match, the finish will not take place in front of the Orange Vélodrome as usual, but on the heights of the Parc national des Calanques.
A new feature of the 2025 Coupe de France FDJ, the Grand Prix Cycliste de Marseille La Marseillaise will be one of 6 rounds counting towards the Coupe de France FDJ climbers' classification, along with the Classic Grand Besançon Doubs, the Tour du Jura, the Tour du Doubs, the Mercan'Tour Classic Alpes-Martimes and the CIC Mont Ventoux.
This first round precedes the first stage race on the French and European calendar, which, as usual, will be the Etoile de Bessèges, starting on February 5th.

The riders will start this Grand Prix Cycliste de Marseille La Marseillaise north of Marseille near the Plage de l'Estaque marina. They then turn north fairly quickly to take the actual start at Septème-les-Vallons, after a 7.8 km convoy ride. From there they head for Fuveau and then Trets, where they begin the first difficulty of the day, the ascent of Pas de la Couelle. Its descent takes them to Saint-Zacharie, where they continue on to Nans-les-Pins and Plan d'Aups, where they begin the ascent of the famous Col de l'Espigoulier. A winding descent brings them to Gemenos and on to Cuges-les-Pins for a short passage through the Var before returning to Roquefort-la-Bedoule, then heading south for La Ciotat and the final difficulty of the day, the Route des Crêtes.
After passing through Cassis, they are already on their way to the finish on the south side of Marseille, which will take place on the Luminy Campus, and more precisely on Avenue de Luminy. No fewer than 4 feed zones are planned by the organization, and these are indicated on the map.
