It's time for another Belgian classic this Friday, March 21, 2025, and more precisely the Bredene Koksijde Classic 2025 (known until 2018 as the Handzame Classic because its finish then took place in Handzame). Only created in 2011, the race was previously part of the Three Days of West Flanders, being a stage of the latter.

With a cancellation in 2020, the race is now in its 14th edition and, as its name suggests, takes place between Bredene and Koksijde.

The Bredene Koksijde Classic 2025 starts in Bredene, a seaside suburb of Ostend, and soon heads inland. It passes through Lo-Reninge and bypasses Ypres via Vlamertinge to arrive at Reningelst, where the riders arrive at a surprising series of loops of which the reading is facilitated on the map by arrows of 3 colors: the first passage with the black arrows, the second with the red arrows, then the exit of these loops with the green arrows.

In this sequence, the riders will twice climb the only two mountains of the Bredene Koksijde Classic 2025: the Banenberg and the Kemmelberg, the latter of which will be climbed from both sides. Leaving these loops, the riders will then head for Poperinge, where they will find the race's feeding zone, before setting course for the sea and thus the finish. Before reaching the finish, they pass through Veurne and enter a final circuit which they will have to complete 3 and a half times, crossing the finish line in Koksijde 4 times. Luca Mozzato's successor will thus be known around 4.35pm.

In principle, 23 teams of 7 riders were to take part in the Bredene Koksijde Classic 2025, but in the end - for various and sundry reasons - 6 of them (Soudal Quick-Step, Cofidis, Team Jayco AlUla, Lidl-Trek, XDS Astana Team and VF Group BardianiCSF-Faizanè) are presenting themselves with one or two fewer riders on the start line in Bredene.
