Yes, the second half of January is already underway, and it's time for the UCI WorldTour to begin. For more than 15 years now, the calendar has kicked off with the Santos Tour Down Under on the other side of the world in Australia.

A prologue and five road stages will take place from Tuesday, January 20 to Sunday, January 25, 2026, covering a total distance of 758.9 kilometers. In this publication, you will find detailed descriptions of the routes, timetables, and stage profiles.

P/ Tuesday, January 20, 2026 - Adelaide - 3.6 km

It all starts with a prologue in the streets of Adelaide. It will be a technical course because, after a long straight stretch on Wakefield Street, the riders will enter Victoria Park individually, specifically its motor racing circuit, where they will complete several turns and several straights before finding out their time as they cross the finish line in front of the Victoria Park Grandstand.

1/ Wednesday, January 21, 2026 - Tanunda > Tanunda - 120.6 km

This first stage of the 2026 Santos Tour Down Under will take place on a loop around the town of Tanunda. First (black arrows around the route), the race heads south towards Lyndoch, where an intermediate sprint will take place, before returning to Tanunda and continuing (red arrow), this time towards the northeast.

Another intermediate sprint will be contested in Angaston, and the riders will return to Tanunda via the Menglers Hill climb (3rd category). They will then continue in the same way (green arrows) to complete the loop via Angaston and Menglers Hill twice more, before competing for the stage victory in Tanunda.

2/ Thursday, January 22, 2026 - Norwood > Uraidla - 148.1 km

From the Adelaide suburb of Norwood, the riders head east and then south to Stirling (following the black arrows). They then cross the finish line in Uraidla, turning east and heading for the sprint inLobethal. At Cudlee Creek, they reach the northernmost point of this stage before heading towards the Corkscrew climb (1st category, 3.67 km at 9.7% (with a maximum of 16.2%)).

They then return to the initial circuit at Ashton, where they encounter a 10 km climb at 4% (with a maximum of 12.6%), and follow the red arrows to cut directly towards the finish line at Uraidla. They then complete this circuit a second time, passing through Lobethal, Cudlee Creek, Corkscrew, and Ashton, before heading back to Uraidla where they will battle it out for victory in this second stage.

3/ Friday, January 23, 2026 - Henley Beach > Nairne - 140.8 km

The third stage will also start in the suburbs of Adelaide, this time on the west side, in Henley Beach.

From there, the race heads south, passing through Wickham Hill (1st category, 3 km at 7% (with a maximum of 11%)), before heading west, passing through the intermediate sprint in Meadows and Strathalbyn before turning north. A second sprint is then contested at Echunga and Mount Barker, and after the Summit Road Climb (3rd category, 1.1 km at 6.9% (with a maximum of 8.9%)), they reach the finish line in Nairne. However, two loops north of the finish town (first following the black arrow and then the red arrow) await them before they battle for victory in Nairne.

4/ Saturday, January 24, 2026 - Brighton > Willunga Hill - 176 km

On this first day of the Santos Tour Down Under 2026 weekend, the longest stage will be on the program, covering 176 kilometers. This time, the stage will start south of Adelaide, in Brighton, and will first head east before turning south. Upon arriving in McLaren Vale, several circuits will be drawn up to complete this stage.

First, the riders will follow the black arrows to the first climb of Willunga Hill (1st category, 3 km at 7.4% (with a maximum of 11%)). Following the red arrows, they will then make a loop towards McLaren Vale, but without actually reaching it, and climb Willunga Hill again. They will then follow the green arrows for a circuit to the west, towards Aldinga Beach, where the riders will compete in two intermediate sprints. This circuit will be completed a second time before returning to the initial circuit and finishing at Willunga Hill.

5/ Sunday, January 25, 2026 - Stirling > Stirling - 169.8 km

The second longest stage of the 2026 Santos Tour Down Under will be the closing stage on Sunday, January 25, 2026.

It will take the form of a loop, ridden counterclockwise, starting and finishing in Stirling, which will be completed eight times. The riders will compete for an intermediate sprint in Heathfield during the third and seventh laps, and the finish line in Stirling is at the top of a Category 2 climb (2 km at 3.7% (with a maximum gradient of 11.1%)), which will count towards the King of the Mountains classification at the end of the 1st, 4th, 5th, and 7th laps.

141 riders will participate in the 2026 Santos Tour Down Under. Taking place in Australia, it is also the most represented nationality, with 31 riders. The second most represented nation is some way behind, with 15 riders from Italy, closely followed by the Netherlands (12 riders), the United Kingdom (11 riders), and France (10 riders). A total of 24 nations will be represented.
