The route of In Flanders Fields - from Middelkerke to Wevelgem 2026 on an OpenStreetMap
Starting in Middelkerke, the route (with the blue section first) makes a few back-and-forth loops toward Veurne, and that’s where the race rejoins the usual course. From there, passing through a few cobbled sections, the riders head south toward the hills. First up is the Scherpenberg & Baneberg duo, followed by an initial climb of another duo—the Monteberg and the Kemmelberg via its less difficult side (Belvedère)—before heading through Kemmel and Messines toward the three Plugstreets: Hill 63, Christmas Truce, and The Catacombs.
Returning to the hill country, the blue section of the map ends, and the route continues onto the burgundy-red section, starting again with the Monteberg and Kemmelberg (Belvedère) duo, but this time the riders turn left at Kemmel to head back for the other duo, the Scherpenberg & Baneberg.
Moving on to the final section—the orange section on the map—they encounter the Kemmelberg as the final climb, but this time via its more difficult side (Ossuary).
Via Ypres and Menen, they then head toward the finish on Vanackerestraat in Wevelgem. As usual, the distance between the final climb and the finish is just under 35 kilometers, potentially giving the sprinters time to catch up and battle for the win, but the race has also seen small-group finishes in the past, such as with Wout van Aert and Christophe Laporte in 2023, the duo of Mads Pedersen and Mathieu van der Poel in 2024, and Mads Pedersen’s solo victory last year!
