Since 12 March and until the 27th of May the Maison du Limousin in Paris proposes an exhibition named Limousin terre de cyclisme.
Of course everyone knows Belgium and Brittany as cycling countries, but the Limousin region is also a cycling country with especially the Tour du Limousin in August.
The exhibition was officially opened on 12 March and I assisted to the official opening.

The Maison du Limousin
The Maison du Limousin in Paris, which is located at 30 Rue Caumartin in the 9th arrondissement of Paris has been created over 30 years ago. Located in the center of Paris, the maison proposes touristic information about the region and its departments: Corrèze, Creuse and Haute-Vienne, but also a regional library (which regularly proposes lectures and conferences), a shop, exhibitions and other temporary events. The Maison du Limousin is an initiative of the Région du Limousin, the Corèze, Haute-Vienne and Creuse departments and the cities Limoges, Brive-la-Gaillarde and Tulle and the Communauté de Communes de Guéret - Saint Vaury.
It is one of the 9 Maisons Régionales in Paris.
The Limousin terre de cyclisme exhibition
This exhibition which will last until 27 May shows the history of cycling and the current situation in the Limousin region with especially the Tour du Limousin which will take place this year from Tuesday 18 until Friday 21st of August 2009. The exhibition also contains an overview of Raymond Poulidor's career (born in Masbaraud-Mérignat in the Creuse department).Raymond Poulidor, who has never worn the "yellow jersey" in the Tour de France as often as since he's the ambassador of the LCL bank was also present at the press conference for the opening of the exhibition. He was accompanied by Gérard Audouze, conseiller régional and Daniel Capet, Vice Président of the Tour du Limousin.
The exhibition is organised by the Syndicat Mixte de Vassivière en Limousin, the Tour du Limousin, the Tour Féminin En Limousin, the Salon International de la caricature, du dessin de presse et d'humour de Saint Just le Martel and the les Amis de la Creuse et l'Académie Cyclopédique association.
In case you are in Paris and interested in cycling, I do recommend you to visit this exhibition: freely accessible from Monday till Friday from 9AM until 6.30PM and on Saturday from 12 until 6PM.

A miniature version of the Tour de France
The company Newsport from Limoges also contributed to the exhibition Limousin terre de cyclisme since they've contacted the 14 year old Quentin Fradin to allow him to show the result of his work in the Maison du Limousin. This young man is a big fan of the Tour de France and has been working since several years already on a wonderful miniature version of the Tour de France: the advertising caravan and the finish zone with for example the VIP areas, the zone technique, the giant France Télévisions screen and the podium.
The result really is impressive and one can clearly see this represents many hours of hard work. Therefore, don't hesitate to visit the Maison du Limousin to have a look at this miniature Tour de France!
As a reminder: the Tour de France will have its first rest day this year on July 13th in Limoges and the next day this city will be the place where the stage towards Issoudun starts.
