The Classic Loire Atlantique 2011 race route

For the first time in 2011 the Classic Loire Atlantique is a race in the 1.1 category of the Europe Tour of the UCI cycling calendar (so far it was a 1.2 race).

Starting and finishing on the Boulevard Bernard Verlynde in La Haye-Fouassière, the race visits the municipalities of Maisdon-sur-Sèvre, Château-Thébaud, Saint-Fiacre-sur-Maine and Vertou over a 16.8 kilometers long circuit on which the riders will do 11 laps to come to a total distance of 184.8 kilometers.

Laurent MangelLast year's winner, Laurent Mangel, will again participate for the Saur-Sojasun team. In addition to the French teams (Saur-Sojasun, AG2R La Mondiale with Cyril Dessel, Bretagne-Schuller with Renaud Dion, Cofidis, Team Europcar with Thomas Voeckler, FDJ, BigMat-Auber 93 and Roubaix-Lille Métropole), 2 UCI ProTeams will participate: Saxo Bank-Sungard and Vacansoleil-DCM Pro Cycling Team.
The other participating teams are Caja Rural, Team Spidertech Powered by C10, Skil-Shimano, Topsport Vlaanderen-Mercator, Veranda's Willems Accent and Vélo Club La Pomme Marseille.

The Cholet-Pays de Loire 2011 race route

Cholet-Pays de Loire, a race which is part of the Coupe de France, will have its 34th edition around the city of Cholet.

This race is the second of the Coupe de France PMU after the Grand Prix Cycliste la Marseillaise which was won this year by Jérémy Roy.

As usual, the race route contains no less than 10 climbs over 197 kilometers around Cholet (one big loop and one small loop). The most important climbs are climb number 1, the Côte du Cimetière, and the forelast (number 9), the Côte de la Tessoualle. The feeding zone will be in Saint Pierre Montlimart.

Leonardo DuqueThe same teams will participate in this race but the participating riders are not necessarily the same; the participation in Cholet-Pays de Loire is a little bit more high level than in the Classic Loire Atlantique.

Only the Cofidis, Saxo Bank-Sungard, Vacansoleil-DCM Pro Cycling Team, Landbouwkrediet, Team Spidertech Powered by C10 and Roubaix-Lille Métropole teams will send exactly the same riders to both races. FDJ and Saur-Sojasun will send completely different teams to these two race because 6 of their 8 riders will be different.

In the list of riders for Cofidis we discover that last year's winner, Leonardo Duque, will not participate for the French team this year.

  1. Bonjour,
