On May 30th the team selection for the Tour de France 2007 has been announced by ASO.

As of today, fourteen teams already announced their (preliminary) selections of riders: AG2R, Agritubel, Astana, Barloworld, Caisse d'Epargne, Euskaltel - Euskadi, Gerolsteiner, Lampre-Fondital, Liquigas, Predictor-Lotto, Quick.Step-Innergetic, Rabobank, Saunier Duval - Prodir and T-Mobile.



  • AG2R

    AG2R

    AG2R has announced a selection in two parts: one containing 8 riders who are sure they have an entry ticket for the Tour de France and a preselection of another 4 riders who have to fight for the remaining entry. The 8 who are sure to be in the Tour are:
    - José Luis Arrieta
    - Sylvain Calzati
    - Cyril Dessel
    - Martin Elmiger
    - John Gadret
    - Stéphane Goubert
    - Christophe Moreau
    - Ludovic Turpin

    Based on the following list of 4 riders, 1 last one will be chosen to go to the Tour as well:
    - Hubert Dupont
    - Simon Gerrans
    - Yuriy Krivstov
    - Jean-Patrick Nazon
  • Agritubel

    Agritubel

    With a prelimary selection of 11 riders, Agritubel still has to scrap 2 before the start of the Tour. Eight riders have seen their participation confimed:
    - Freddy Bichot
    - Moises Duenas Nevado
    - Romain Feillu
    - Eduardo Gonzalo Ramirez
    - Nicolas Jalabert
    - Juan Miguel Mercado (probably their leader)
    - Benoit Salmon
    - Nicolas Vogondy

    The other rider will be chosen from the following list:

  • Astana

    Astana

    Astana has selected 12 riders of which 6 are sure to participate. The 6 riders who are sure to participate are:
    - Andrei Kashechkin

    - Eddy Mazzoleni
    - Paolo Savoldelli
    - Alexander Vinokourov (leader)

    The other 3 riders who will complete this team will be chosen from the following 6:

    - Guennadi Mikhailov

    Barloworld

    Barloworld, just like AG2R, announced a selection in two parts: one of six riders who are sure to participate to this year's Tour and a preselection of another 8 riders who will have to prove they're worth one of the 3 remaining entry tickets. The following 6 riders will definitively participate:
    - Robert Hunter (South-Africa)
    - Alex Efimkin (Russia)
    - Geraint Thomas (UK)
    - Felix Cardenas (Colombia)
    - Mauricio Soler (Colombia)
    - Fabrizio Guidi (Italy)

    The following 8 riders will have to prove they are fit enought to ride the Tour during the following weeks in Spain, Switzerland and Germany to be part of the 3 additional riders for Barloworld's Tour team:

    The Rabobank team has announced its final selection for the Tour de France on Monday July 25th. It appears to be an experienced team with 6 former Tour stage winners and only one Tour newcomer (Thomas Dekker). The team members for Rabobank are:

    - Juan Antonio Flecha
    - Oscar Freire
    - Bram de Groot
    - Denis Menchov (leader)
    - Grischa Niermann
    - Michael Rasmussen
    - Pieter Weening

    The team will be managed by Erik Dekker and Erik Breukink who still have two riders on an additonal list in case one of the 9 can finally not participate (Theo Eltink & Koos Moerenhout).
  • Saunier Duval - Prodir

    Saunier Duval - Prodir

    Saunier Duval - Prodir seems to have announced its final selection already, because their list contains 9 riders (in alphabetic order):

    - Juanjo Cobo
    - David de la Fuente
    - Jose Angel Gomez Marchante
    - Ruben Lobato
    - Iban Mayo
    - David Millar
    - Christophe Rinero
    - Francisco Ventoso

    Their team manager is Mauro Gianetti and in this selection, David Millar will be a potential winner for time trials (3 time trials are planned in this year's Tour!) and Francisco Ventoso will be there for the sprint arrivals.

    T-Mobile has announced a pre-selection of 13 riders on its website:

    Très sympa les sélections sur le blog. Merci. A noter que les guide du Tour commencent à sortir dans les kiosques : Cyclisme 2007, Velo MAgazine et la france cycliste pour ceux que j'ai vus.
