The Tour of Italy 2016: 3 days in the province of Gelderland
For its 99th edition, the Giro d'Italia chose to start abroad, for the 12th time in the history of the race and for the 3rd time from The Netherlands (after Groningen in 2002 and Amsterdam pour for the Giro d'Italia 2010).The Netherlands are made up of 12 provinces and one of these provinces, the biggest of the country: Gelderland, will have the honour to organise the start of the Tour of Italy in 2016.
As for the start from Ireland in 2014, the race will start on Friday, Friday 6 May 2016, with an individual time trial over 8.1 kilometers, in the city of Apeldoorn. The two stages in line which are on the programme on Saturday 7 May 2016 and on Sunday 8 May 2016 will most probably both be for the sprinters in this flat country and will both take place between the cities of Arnhem and Nijmegen, on Saturday in this order and on Sunday in the opposite direction.
Like in 2014, Monday 9 May 2016 will be the first rest day of this Giro d'Italia, reserved for the transfer to Italy, where the race will continue in the south of the country!
