Saturday 09 April 2016 at 21h33

Tomorrow, 199 riders of 25 different teams will start in Compiègne for 257.5 kilometers of racing, including 52.8 kilometers on cobble stones (see the Paris-Roubaix 2016 race route on Google Maps). This will be the 114th edition of Paris-Roubaix and it will start without last year's winner, John Degenkolb ...

Starting in Compiègne, the weather should be dry but potentially still with some fog which will disappear progressively. While early this week the weather reports still mentioned rain during the race (which would have been a first since several years!), this will finally not be the case and the riders will thus get on the cobbles towards Roubaix under a dry sky, but without much sun.

The list of participants for Paris-Roubaix 2016

The Astana team comes to the start with only 7 riders instead of 8 for the other teams and the total number of participants is thus 199 tomorrow morning in Compiègne.

Among the main favourites we mainly find:
> Peter Sagan (Tinkoff) who had a quite good start of his season with second places in the Circuit Het Nieuwsblad and in the stage race Tirreno-Adriatico, a fourth place in the Strade Bianche and finally the victory in his rainbow jersey in Ghent-Wevelgem and in the Tour of Flanders
> Fabian Cancellara (Trek-Segafredo) who starts his last season this year and who mainly won the Strade Bianche and took the 2nd place in the Tour of Flanders
> Sep Vanmarcke (Team Lotto NL-Jumbo) who was beaten in the sprint by Fabian Cancellara in Paris-Roubaix 2013 and who finished this year 2nd of Ghent-Wevelgem and 3rd of the Tour of Flanders
> but also riders like Lars Boom (Astana Pro Team), Zdenek Stybar and Niki Terpstra (winner in 2014), both of the Etixx-QuickStep team

In Paris-Roubaix we can always expect surprises though!

Here are all the riders with their bib numbers:
