While the Scheldeprijs may not sound like a Belgian classic, it was created 6 years before the Tour of Flanders, whose 108th edition was won by Mathieu van der Poel (Alpecin-Deceuninck) on Sunday. It'll thus already see it's 112th edition this year!
Since 2018, it takes place between Terneuzen in the Netherlands, in the province of Zealand, and Schoten in Belgium. This 112th edition will cover a total distance of 205.3 km, almost entirely on the flat, with a cobbled sector before the final circuit and another in the final circuit, which will therefore be ridden 4 times. Seen as a sort of World Championship for sprinters, it will undoubtedly be a sprinter who wins the race again this Wednesday, April 3!
In this article, you'll find all the details of the route of the Scheldeprijs/Grand Prix de l'Escaut 2024, on an Open Street Maps map which is also available for download in Google Earth, the race profile, the hourly itinerary, and the list of starters for this race.

The route of the Scheldeprijs/Grand Prix de l'Escaut 2024 on a map on Open Street Maps
At the start of the race in Terneuzen, the riders will first enter a long tunnel, the Westerscheldetunnel, the longest road tunnel in the Netherlands.Once out of the tunnel, they will then travel through the province of Zealand and more precisely the Walcheren peninsula, passing through Goes, Rilland and Woensdrecht before crossing the border into Belgium and heading towards Essen, Kalmthout, Wuustwezel, Hoogstraten and Brecht, and then on to the final circuit!
Before reaching it, they will quickly pass over a first 500-meter cobbled section on the Sint Jobsesteenweg. On the final circuit, they'll find the Broekstraat cobbled section, which they'll have to cover 4 times. If the regrouping hasn't happened before, there's a good chance it will happen during these loops, and the finish in Schoten will be a sprint. So, who will succeed Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin-Deceuninck)? Maybe himself, because he'll be at the start!
