January is already well under way, so it's almost time for the first UCI WorldTour race of the season. This calendar of the most prestigious cycling races features 36 races this year, 21 one-day and 15 stage races, and the first of these is - as usual - the Santos Tour Down Under 2025 in South Australia.
6 stages between Tuesday January 21 and Sunday January 26 make up this race, which this year covers a distance of 820.5 kilometers around Adelaide, and in this article you'll find all the details of these stages, with their maps, stage profiles and hourly itineraries.

1/ Tuesday, January 21, 2025 - Prospect > Gumeracha - 150.7 km
Stage 1 starts in Prospect, just north of Adelaide, and heads east to the first difficulty of Kangaroo Creek Reservoir (2nd category). The race then turns north to the intermediate sprint at Williamstown before descending to Gumeracha, where the riders will arrive on the final circuit of the race and find the feed zone.Via Cudlee Creek, the Berry Hill Climb (2nd category), Lobethal, Charleston, Mount Torrens and Birdwood, they then return to Gumeracha where they cross the finish line once again before embarking on a second and final lap of this circuit followed by the finish in Gumeracha.

2/ Wednesday, January 22, 2025 - Tanunda > Tanunda - 128.8 km
The second stage of the Santos Tour Down Under 2025 will start and finish in Tanunda, and will be the most northerly stage of the Santos Tour Down Under 2025. The route is made up of two loops, or in other words, one big loop that will be completed two and a half times. A big loop passing through Menglers Hill (1st category), Angaston, Nuriootpa, Greenock where the intermediate sprint is located, Seppeltsfield and Marananga will in fact be completed twice, before the riders begin a third lap, which will pass through Menglers Hill and Angaston, but at Nuriootpa they will then turn left instead of going straight on, to head straight for the finish in Tanunda.Below you'll find the timetable, profile and OpenStreetMap for this stage. 3/ Thursday, January 23, 2025 - Norwood > Uraidla - 147.5 km
For stage 3, we're getting closer to Adelaide again, and the start is east of Adelaide, in Norwood. Heading east, right at the actual start, the riders begin the 10-kilometer climb up Stony Rise Road (2nd category). They then turn right to start a big loop south, passing through Summertown then Stirling, the Echunga intermediate sprint and Macclesfield before heading north again via Mount Barker, the Hahndorf feed zone, Balhannah and Lenswood and then turning west to complete this first loop with the ascent of Knotts Hill (1st category).
The second loop then begins in the same direction, but at Summertown they turn left towards the finish line and push on almost as far as Balhannah to return to the first circuit. This time, when they cross the finish line in Uraidla, they'll be sprinting for the stage win!

4/ Friday, January 24, 2025 - Glenelg > Victor Harbor - 157.8 km
From Glenelg in Adelaide's southwest, this 4th stage heads south (and will be the southernmost stage), via the intermediate sprints at Aldinga Beach and Yankalilla, where the feed zone is also located (by the way, this sequence of intermediate sprint and feed zone raises a few questions about safety!). The riders then cross to the southeast, via the Parawa Hill climb (2nd category). They then head for Victor Harbor and a traffic circle, which they'll see again a little later on their way to the stage finish. Before that, they head north for the Nettle Hill climb (1st category), then back down to this traffic circle, where they turn left again to finish the stage near Victor Harbor.Below you'll find the hourly itinerary, profile and OpenStreetMap of this stage's route. 5/ Saturday, January 25, 2025 - McLaren Vale > Willunga Hill - 145.7 km
Stage 5 of the Santos Tour Down Under 2025 starts from McLaren Vale and will take in a small section of a common route with the previous stage. At the start, the riders immediately turn left to head north and begin the main circuit of this stage. Soon they head northeast, and after reaching the northernmost point of the stage, continue southeast to Wickham Hill (1st category). They then continue south-west to Willunga Hill (which, for this first passage, will not be an uphill climb). Heading towards the coast, they soon reach Willunga, where they find the feed zone. Rejoining the previous day's route in the opposite direction, they contest the Aldinga Beach sprint, before leaving the previous day's route again at Maslin Beach, where they turn right towards the start.Rather than turning left, they turn right at McLaren Vale, heading for Willunga and the short seaside circuit. Back at the starting point, they turn right again, but in Willunga they fork left instead of right to climb the famous Willunga Hill. As far as The Range, they follow the circuit of the original big loop in the opposite direction, before turning left to return to the start. They then start a final stretch up Willunga Hill, and 200 metres further on find the finish line of the stage at Willunga Hill.

6/ Sunday, January 26, 2025 - Adelaide > Adelaide - 90 km
The 6th and final stage of the Santos Tour Down Under 2025 takes place on a 4.5 km circuit in Adelaide, which the riders will cover 20 times to reach a total distance of 90 kilometers. The start will be directly from the starting line, and a few hundred meters further on there will be a U-turn to go back up the same road in the opposite direction. The riders then fork left to go around the Adelaide Oval (a stadium) before turning right and climbing Montefiore Hill, which will count for the best climber classification on laps 8 and 16. They then cross over to the other side of King William Road but stay inside the Torrens River, before heading back to the start. In rounds 4 and 12, they'll contest an intermediate sprint there, and at the end of round 20, this will also be the finishing point in Adelaide for this 6th stage, and for this Santos Tour Down Under 2025.Below you'll find the time itinerary, profile and OpenStreetMap of this stage's route.
