Alex Dowsett tells stories to Twitter
Last Friday, Alex Dowsett (Team Sky) decided to tell a story to Twitter. Limited to 140 characters, his story of course didn't fit into one message. The English rider didn't see that as a problem since 3 messages allowed him to tell the story!Hum ... no comment! The life of a young rider apparently isn't always that easy ...
Earlier this week, during the Vuelta a Andalucia, Dowsett transcribed his team mate Davide Appollonio's comments on the race, pronounced with a nice Italian accent:
If you'd like to get an idea of that nice Italian accent ... watch my interview with Appollonio following his victory in the final stage of the Tour du Limousin 2010!
Koos Moerenhout prepares his children for a professional cyclist's career
Probably thinking "you can't start too early", Koos Moerenhout (Rabobank), former professional rider, seems to prepare his children to a future career of professional cyclist! He thought his daughter Lynn, 6 years old, the principles of pacelines while his son Kas, 4 years old, will now ride his bike without his safety wheels!
Alexander Kolobnev got stuck in the snow!
While the first races have now started in Europe, Alexander Kolobnev (Katusha Team) got completely blocked close to the Etna, where the Giro d'Italia 2011 will have a stage finish. Do you think his cry for help has been heard and that someone brought him wood and something to eat? Apparently the bike wasn't the best way of transport over there ...The Inner Ring saw other weather influences in the professional peloton at the same time ...
Geraint Thomas requests flat stage finishes!
During the Giro di Sardegna, Geraint Thomas (Team Sky) seemed to regret his return to the track. Indeed, the uphill stage finishes didn't really suit him and he even went to ask the organizers to get a flat stage finish!CONTINUE READING AFTER THIS ADVERTISEMENT
Brett Lancaster's son might also get pro!
Just like Koos Moerenhout's children, the 2 year old son of Brett Lancaster (Team Garmin-Cervélo) might well become a pro cyclist as well ... Indeed, when his father's massage at home was done ... he started to strip off and said my turn!Greg Henderson is searching the time limits for his daily dose of training!
After Will Clarke who got a knock on the door from his neighbours, Greg Henderson (Team Sky) doesn't want to take a risk! His question about what time is too late for an ergo session, got an answer from Mark Renshaw (Team [[HTC-Highroad]]):Some bad karma for Taylor Phinney and a successful return to competition for Stef Clement
Taylor Phinney had a more than successful year last year when he won for example the U23 World Championships, the American national time trial championship, stages in several stage races and the final victory in Olympia's Tour and U23 Paris-Roubaix.The start of his first year as a pro turns out to be a bit more difficult ... After his knee problem which obliged him to postpone his first race as a pro, he fell during his training this week! The young American rider of course regrets it but at the same time reminds all his followers of something very important: wearing a helmet can save lives!
Let's just hope that the rest of his first year as a pro will bring much better conditions and will allow him to taste his first pro victory as well! At least that's what I would wish for ...
At the same time, Stef Clement got back to competition after 8 months of absence. An inflammation in his back got him away from racing since the Tour of California last May. Of course, the Dutch rider was thus very happy to get back to competition and he shared that feeling in several tweets. I decided to choose one of them as one of the Tweets of the week because when I read it I thought ... that's so true!
That's that, those were the Tweets of last week!
