After a few weeks of absence, the Tweets of the week are back with the tweets of the past two weeks!

From the UCI list of suspicions to the Giro d'Italia 2011 and Tour of California race routes to Matt Brammeier's eating habits, you'll discover everything. Matthew Hayman must regret that the end of the world didn't become truth while Robert Gesink is learning Spanish.

If Stef Clement had his word to say, Dutch people would be leading the UCI

You must have heard about the UCI list which ranked the riders who participated in the Tour de France 2010 according to a suspicion index. The French sports newspaper L'Equipe got hold of this list and published it as is in its pages.

Largely criticised, especially by the riders but also by the UCI, everyone was wondering how on earth this list ended up in the hands of the newspaper. Indeed, this list should have been a working document shared between the UCI and the WADA (World Anti Doping Agency) only and it should thus never have ended up in the hands of the press.

Stef Clement (Rabobank) probably found the solution for this problem: have Dutch men lead the UCI! Indeed, as the Dutch rider who was born in Tilburg correctly realises, the last time there was a leak in The Netherlands was in 1953 (that's of course the North Sea flood we're talking about)!

Tomas Vaitkus (Astana) compares the points you get on this list with ... the points which are rewarded at the Eurovision song festival! Ukrain, 10 points !

The Giro d'Italia 2011 and Tour of California 2011 race route

This year, the Giro d'Italia 2011 partially took place at the same time as the Tour of California 2011. As I already indicated in October 2010 after the official presentation, the Giro d'Italia 2011 race route was very (too?) mountaineous (if you'd like to see the race route in detail, you can do so with the Tour of Italy 2011 race route on Google Maps/Google Earth).

Therefore, now the first of the 3 Grand Tours of 2011 has started, after the tragic accident of Wouter Weylandt and with the dangerous descent which was planned in the 14th stage (it was finally cancelled), many people had their word to say about it ...

First of all with Jimmy Engoulvent (Saur-Sojasun), not present in the Giro, who says what many people think.

Cameron Meyer (Team Garmin-Cervélo) also spoke about it, after the stage with the dirt roads ... apparently his pasta didn't have the same taste as usual! The Australian rider thus wondered what was yet to come ...

Sam Bewley and Jesse Sergent (Team Radioshack) didn't participate in the Giro, but apparently the two riders of the American team took some roads which the Giro d'Italia would not even take!

In the Tour of California, the first stage was canceled due to the snow. Apparently, Tejay van Garderen (Team HTC-Highroad) didn't regret that ...

Once the Tour of California really started, it was broadcast live on the Internet, in high quality. We should thank the organiser for that, but sometimes it was actually quite boring to see the riders on straight roads which seemed to be drawn with a ruler. Simon MacMichael, editor on the English website road.cc said that this has negative side-effects on ... his dog!

Apart from the snow, the rain also came to the Tour of California. Alex Dowsett didn't expect this because he had a very important goal during this race: working on his tan lines!

Matt Brammeier's eating habits

Matt Brammeier, the Irish champion from Team HTC-Highroad, apparently has some difficulties in managing his energy consumption on the bike ... not really surprising when you know that he uses his Powerbars to feed the animals!
Matt Brammeier - tweet of the week

He seems to be better on the coffee side though! He's just sorry for his coffee machine which has a workload which depends on his but which gets overused on his rest days. Indeed maybe his coffee machine deserves a rest day as well!

Carlos Barredo teaches Spanish to Robert Gesink

Robert Gesink (Rabobank) and some other riders of the Rabobank team are currently on a training camp. He is there with Carlos Barredo among others. Barredo found an original but useful method to teach his team mate Spanish: Post-Its!

Shut up Scaphoid bone

Jens Voigt (Team Leopard-Trek) fell during the Tour of California and had to abandon with a broken scaphoid bone. Ken Sommer, Brand & Marketing Manager at Team Leopard-Trek, is already thinking about Jens saying: Shut up Scaphoid bone!
Indeed, in January 2010, the German rider explained that when his body starts to play up and indicate it's been enough, his mental strength takes over. He also said that he than tells his legs: shut up legs !

The end of the world

You must have heard about Harold Egbert Camping who announced the end of the world for 21 May 2011. Fortunately his predictions didn't become truth but this at least allowed us to discover from Greg Henderson (Team Sky) that his team mate Matthew Hayman was looking on the bright side of that message!
