After the Etoile de Bessèges which was won this year by Jonathan Hivert (Sojasun) and the Tour Méditerranéen won by less than a tube distance (over 5 stages!) by Thomas Lövkvist (IAM Cycling), it will be time for the Tour du Haut Var-Matin this weekend already, as usual with two stages in the beautiful Haut-Var region.
In this article you'll find all details about the race route of this 45th edition of the race in the south-east of France, with the time- and route schedule, the profile and the race route on Google Maps/Google Earth for the two stages of the Tour du Haut Var-Matin 2013.

1/ Saturday 16 February 2013 - Le Cannet des Maures > La Croix Valmer - 152,7 km
The first stage on Saturday will start in Le Cannet des Maures, from the Place de la Libération. After the real start at the Château Reillane, the peloton goes towards Vidauban and will rapidly dispute the first intermediate sprint, in front of the restaurant Bruno, close to Lorgues. The second sprint will be only 3 kilometers further, in Lorgues, in front of the cinema.
The riders will continue back towards the start of the stage in Le Cannet des Maures and once they crossed the start line again, and just before they arrive in Vidauban, they'll get to the feeding zone de ravitaillement which will be on the race route after only 56.8 kilometers in the race and with still about 101 to go!
This time, they won't continue up to Vidauban but turn right to descend towards the sea, via Le Plan-de-la-Tour, towards Sainte-Maxime. That's where they'll find the 3rd sprint of this stage, just before they cross the bridge.
The riders will then go towards Grimaud where they'll get to the first climb which counts for the King of the Mountains classification, in the 2nd category.
After a short loop around Grimaud, they'll follow the same route they used to get to this climb, in the opposite direction, before they turn right to the Col de Gassin, 2nd category as well.
Continuing the descent towards the sea, they'll get to La Croix-Valmer where they'll do 5 laps on a 6.1 kilometer long circuit. At the 5th crossing of the finish line in front of Le Forum we'll know the first stage winner of the Tour du Haut Var-Matin 2013 and thus the first rider to wear the leader's jersey of the general classification.

2/ Sunday 17 February 2013 - Draguignan > Draguignan - 207 km
As explained in the introduction of this article, this second stage with start and finish in Draguignan will be a lot more hilly. As a starter, there will be a loop west of the city Draguignan and on the way back towards Draguignan the riders will get to the first intermediate sprint of this stage in Salernes, followed by a second sprint in the city center of Draguinan.
When they leave the city on the east side, the riders will have to climb the Côte des Tuilières, 1st category climb, before they reach the most eastern point of the stage where they can get some food and drinks in the feeding zone which will this time be almost halfway the stage.
When they turn left, they'll climb the Mur de Montauroux, a short and steep climb of 300 meters at 22%, which doesn't count for the KOM classification however.
This will however allow the riders to get to the Col de Mons, the only hors category climb of this race which is, with its 812 meters of altitude, also the highest point of the Tour du Haut Var-Matin.
Via Tourrettes, the riders will then turn back to the route where the feeding zone was and they'll once again climb the Mur de Montauroux, which still doesn't count for the KOM classification. But this time, instead of turning towards Mons, they'll turn to Callian and once again pass Tourrettes to climb the Mur de Fayence, which doesn't count for the KOM classification either.
They'll continue towards Seillans where they'll battle for the sprint Moïse Puginier, which honors the creator of the Tour du Haut Var. They'll then turn back to Draguignan where they'll arrive this time from the south-eastern side to cross the finish line for the first time. This finish line will be at the same place as the start in Draguignan.
They'll still have to do 16.4 kilometers and on this circuit they'll get back on the Côte des Tuilières, 1st category. After the descent they'll take the road back to Draguignan, still from south-eastern side to finally get to the finish line, this time to battle for the stage victory, but also for the overall victory of this race because after two stages on these beautiful routes it will already be over!

* since the time- and route schedules and the maps of this race as provided by the organisor are not very precise and sometimes seem to be contradictory, there might be some small differences between the route on Google Maps (and thus the stage profiles) and the real race route. If you want to use these maps to go visit the race, you can of course use these maps to know where the race will go, but I recommend to ask locally to make sure you're at the right place!
I indeed have some doubts for example about the final circuit around La Croix-Valmer in the first stage and the roads used in Flayosc in the second stage for example. door Thomas Vergouwen
