Last year you could already discover the race route of the "Châteauroux Classic de l'Indre Trophée Fenioux" on Google Maps on velowire.com. Thanks to a collaboration with the organisor of the race, the map which is published on the official website has this year been realised by me and has thus been enriched with the logos of the sponsors of the race and with photos of the different important points on the race route.
The Classic de l'Indre 2012 race route has been officially presented by Jean-Luc Pernet, the organisor of the race, last Friday and I can thus now also present it to you on velowire.com!
In this article you'll find the time- and route schedule, the profile and a map with the race route on Google Maps for the Classic de l'Indre 2012!

The Classic de l'Indre 2012 race route on Google Maps
Those of you who thought the race route of the Classic de l'Indre was always the same are wrong ... Indeed, when you simply have a look at compare the 2011 race route and you compare it to the one presented below you'll quickly discover this is not the case. In 2011 the race took place on the north-east side of the city Châteauroux while this year the riders will discover the area south-east of the city.Despite the changing race route, the final circuit remains the same every year ... maybe that's where the secret of Anthony Ravard, triple winner of the race (of which two times in a row) lies.
In the 201.2 kilometers the riders will do on the 19th of August, the surprise will most probably be just after they crossed Pérassay. Indeed, the organisation committee found a steep climb there which the riders will definitely feel in their legs! Even though it's only 192 meters long, it has an average steepness of no less than 22% and on top of it the second sprint of the Challenge Citroën will be judged.
After the start from Châteauroux, the real start will be between Etrechet and Ardentes when the riders exit Clavières. Via Mers-sur-Indre they will than go to Chassignolles where they'll dispute at kilometer 30 the Prime du Conseil Général de l'Indre before they approach Saint-Sévère-sur-Indre via Crevant.
They're than almost at the point where they'll turn around to go back to Châteauroux but they won't do so without disputing the 3 sprints which count for the Challenge Citroën: first of all the one in Vijon (1,200m @ 5%) followed by the already famous Côte de Piot (192m @ 22%) and finally on top of another climb in Saint-Sévère-sur-Indre (900m @ 4%).
After those efforts, they'll get in the feeding zone between Feusines and Urciers and continue their trip towards Vicq-Exemplet. Their way back to Châteauroux will bring them to Verneuil-sur-Igneraie where they'll dispute the first sprint Opticiens Mutualistes.
Via Saint-Août they'll arrive at the second sprint Opticiens Mutualistes in Sassierges-Saint-Germain. A small detour via Maron will allow them to go back to Etrechet and Châteauroux where they'll get on the final circuit at the most south-eastern point of the city. They'll still have to cross the finish line 6 times at that time since this 7.4 kilometer long circuit will be run 5 times. At the second crossing of the finish line, the city of Châteauroux will award a prize to the rider who crosses the line fist while at the 4th crossing it's time for the 3rd and final sprint Opticiens Mutualistes.
